Sexual tension, prefection, and social gatherings

The week was quite hectic, which was mainly caused by the fact that I was covering for my business partner. We work well together in that he is highly commercial and can use his experience and intuition to deal with most problems. However, what he lacks is knowing what the law actually says and writing coherent advice the looks and sounds professional, which is where I come in - he knows his limitations but compensates by asking me for help, only that what he wanted me to help him last week with was quite protracted and complex, which meant that I spent most of the days doing his work. When I finished, I still had my own work to do, which made my days much longer than they needed to be. During the week though, I did catch up with a workmate, who told me years ago that he 'had a thing for me', whatever that meant. Truth me told, there is certainly chemistry between us, so whenever we got together, the underlying tension was palpable. If we didn't have partners, I suspect t...

Instagram war, magic accessories, and workshop backfire

I was meaning to blog last night about the week before but I had a very mentally and emotionally exhausting day yesterday, so I couldn't bring myself to write. Anyway, the only highlight of the week was when Sam and I went to see this live show called Thank You for Being a Friend during the week . It was basically a replica of The Golden Girls in muppet format. They even put 80s ads in between breaks, which was a trip down memory lane. Both Sam and I enjoyed the show a lot. Friday evening Neither Sam nor Iain wanted to see a movie, so me and my lonesome left the office at about 6:30 pm and met up with Ryan and Jake. Seeing that the other boys weren't coming, the three of us decided to do something different from eating at Grill'd, so we had dinner at the food court for a change. After dinner, we went to Apple Shop for a browse. The next thing I knew, I bought the latest Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard. Needless to say, I love both of them, although I just can'...

Birthday dinners, colonising Mars, and doing very little

The week started off relatively stressful despite the public holiday on Monday. While it is always good to get a day off, it also means that I am squeezing five days' worth of work into four, which is all a bit of a false economy in the end. The week started off stressful because I had to do a presentation first thing on Tuesday morning but it went really well as usual, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted me out there again in the not too distant future. The rest of the week wasn't too bad. There was plenty to do and some of the work was reasonably challenging but it was not so overwhelming that stressed me. Meanwhile, the horror client from the week before finally asked for a meeting late on Friday, so I am not looking forward to that meeting. Be that as it may, it is still a learning experience on conflict resolution and I always believe that difficult situations can become opportunities, so I am going to embrace it. Also, it was Sam's birthday on Friday, so...

Lousy fitout, confident night-out, and a day of rest

It was great to have another long weekend. Even though Labour Day doesn't mean a whole lot to me, it was good to have a mini-break. Friday evening I had a particularly difficult client during the week who basically wouldn't listen but turned around to say that we never explained anything to her. I repeatedly extended invitations for her to come in so I could go through everything with her in detail but instead of accepting that offer, she just sent me one aggressive email after another. While I pretended that I wasn't perturbed by her, her accusations and negativity really bothered me. This whole thing hasn't ended yet and I have no idea how it would turn out, so the next chapter has yet to be written. I left work at about 6:30 pm to meet up with Iain for dinner. Sam was working late again, so we met up with him after dinner to see The Intern together because all the good seats for The Martian was taken by the time we bought our tickets. I wasn't surprise...
