Last day of work, Bitter Suite dinner, and Christmas lunch

Image
The 2 weeks leading up to Christmas were dreadful because of the copious amount of business social gatherings and as the days drew nearer to Christmas, it got increasingly intense as I had lots to do before going on my Christmas break. Our last day on Friday was meant to be a half-day and we were supposed to come into work in casual clothes but I couldn't really do that because I had a client meeting and another business meeting close to noon. My meeting finished early, so instead of getting back into the office, I drove back home and just caught lunch at Wilde Kitchen before they finished up for the break. When I got back to our apartment, I still had to attend to a number of emails, so I worked. I didn't plan to get back into the city at all but I realised that there were a couple of things I needed to do there, so at about 4:30 pm, I drove back into the office and spent the next 2 hours there. I was very productive because the whole office was empty! Friday evening...

Work Christmas party, client Christmas party, and vertigo

I am late blogging because I have an excuse - yesterday evening, I started getting quite dizzy, so I thought I would do the Epley Manoeuvre on myself, only that I felt worse after I finished, so much so that I had to quickly take a shower and went to bed. I tried to fight off the nausea but had to throw up an hour or so after I went to bed. I just managed to get to the toilet before I barfed.  I was mildly better today and I went to work anyway. My business partner kept telling me to go home but I couldn't because I had too much on. I did manage to cancel a lunch, which made life a bit easier. Friday evening Rewinding back to last Friday evening, I went to my work Christmas party instead of movie night. I got home first to get changed and I was really tempted not to go but because I missed the Christmas day trip a few weeks ago, I felt obliged to show up. The venue was a bit dodgy. A bit like a dungeon. And it was so unbelievably noisy. I really don't enjoy going to pl...

Quiet office, Secret Santa shopping, and silly season exhaustion

Two weeks before Christmas and I have already entered the zone of a much needed break. This is going to make the next two weeks overbearing, especially when there are still heaps of Christmas lunches and dinners to attend before I earn my break. Last Monday was totally dreadful. I had to attend two client events. After spending about an hour at a Christmas do, I had to dash up the road to attend another one. By the time I got home, it was 9:30 am and that was after a huge day of work. This coming week doesn't look any better. I have my office Christmas party to attend, followed by a client Christmas dinner on Saturday night. It keeps getting better... The only good news was that we had a really good meeting during the week with a Government official. Unlike the previous meeting we had with him, we were greeted with some good news this time, so what we need to do now is to take advantage of the opportunity and try to maximise it.  Friday evening I ditched the office Christ...

Heatwave, thunderstorms, and setting up Christmas tree

Although last week wasn't as full-on as the week before, it was still a big week nonetheless. It was so big that even though I was meant to go to a client's Christmas function in the evening on Friday, I had to email them to let them know that I wouldn't be able to make it. There are still a few more weeks to go before Christmas but it can't come fast enough as far as I am concerned. Friday evening I had a pretty big meeting before 5 pm on Friday and by the time I was done, I was quite exhausted. When I got back to my office, there was a mountain of email to which I had to attend, to I emailed my client and told them I was stuck at work and couldn't really go to their Christmas function. I worked till about 7 pm and since there was no movie night (all the boys piked), I headed home instead, feeling totally shattered. It was good to be home though, even though I still had a fair bit of work to do for the weekend. However, I ended up updating all the tutoria...
