Overwhelming emails, seafood chowder, and magical Dave Franco

It was a big week last week. I found myself longing for Friday to come along. It wasn't as if I didn't enjoy what I did but the emails were coming too thick and fast and that made feel perturbed while I was in meetings, knowing that I had all these emails waiting for me to attend to when I got back. I ended up staying back till about 6:30 pm before I left the office. Friday evening There was nothing worthwhile to see at the movies in the city. I wouldn't have minded going to New Farm Cinemas to see Snowden but everyone seemed reluctant to do anything, so I just cancelled movie night and headed home. I waited for Sam for a little while, texted him to see when he was getting home, and didn't hear back from him. Then he realised he was getting a massage, which meant that he couldn't have read his text messages. I was getting hungry, so I just whipped a quick dinner together, had it, and watched movies and TV shows on my computer for the rest of the night So th...

Chick flick, discovering Foodora, and lots of chilling

My weeks seem to be quite inconsistent. There are some weeks when I feel bogged down and weary and I don't really want to do anything while others are crazily busy but I feel totally accomplished when it is finished. Last week was haphazard. It was nice and breezy in the earlier part of the week but it went nuts by Friday. By lunch time, I felt like I had done enough work for the day, except that there were still heaps of work waiting for me to do for the rest of the day. Friday evening I felt relieved when the week finally finished. I felt like I did a lot but I wasn't sure if I made the right call with a few things. I always doubt myself, especially when clients trust my judgment. I guess I just don't want to let them down but life is not that black and white, so it's hard to know if what I know is all there is to know and my judgement is based on what I know only. I was keen to get out of the work, so by the time I got to the cinema, the boys hadn't shown u...

Pre-order drama, another strategy session, and lots of haloumi

It was another one of those weeks when I felt like I undertook a lot of activities but I wasn't exactly productive. I struggled somewhat to fill my time sheets with enough chargeable hours to make me feel secure but I did generate additional work by proactively contacting my clients and seeing them. Friday evening I was pretty much done with work by 5 pm on Friday but to be honest, even if I wasn't done by then, I would have freed myself up because the pre-orders for the new iPhone went live! As usual, I was glued to three screens, refreshing the Apple website and the Apple Store apps on my iPhone and iPad intermittently starting from about 4:55 pm. Annoyingly, I couldn't get through until the website came online at about 5:05 pm. I quickly ordered my new iPhone and the delivery date was listed to be the new iPhone's launch date, so fingers crossed! After all the excitement of getting the new phone, I went downstairs to meet up with the boys for movie night. Ryan,...

Scrumptious Japanese, dent on credit card, and an unhealthy dinner

It was another reasonably busy week. Things have been heating up, probably because I have been creating work for myself but the 'bread and butter work' has been coming in thick nonetheless. During the week, I had to attend a farewell function where I had to make a speech. I was fine with the speech - I think I did a reasonable job, judging by the laughs I was able to engender, although I must admit I find teaching and running courses a lot easier than giving a speech about someone leaving. Immediately after my speech though, I felt very sick all of a sudden and had to beeline to the bathroom. I stayed in there for about half an hour, feeling lousy and breaking out in cold sweat. When I finally managed to get better, I made a quick exit. After dropping a colleague back into the city, I turned around and headed home. It was a dreadful experience and I hope I wouldn't be feeling like that again any time soon. Friday evening The boys couldn't make movie night, so by t...
